MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Two women were arrested this week on felony charges related to abuse of a child over the course of several months.

Rachel Stevens, mother of the victim, and Kayla Jones, stepmother of the victim, were arrested for abusing a 5-year-old boy.

Investigators say the case began when they were called to a Tulsa hospital to see a child with “inconsistent injuries” in December.

The child was suffering from lesions on his face and had suffered from two seizures before being taken to the hospital. He was also recovering from several broken bones and had developed a staph infection.

Investigators say they learned that the little boy had been kicked in the genitals until he bled, struck with belts and a hammer, had his eyes duct taped shut and was even tied up with a rope.

Soon it was also discovered that two other children, ages 5 and 7, were at the home of Stevens and Jones as well. Their conditions are not known at this time.
