LANGSTON, Okla. -- Two men were arrested Saturday morning after a University of Central Oklahoma student was kidnapped, beaten, robbed and shot Friday, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said in a news release.
Nineteen-year-old Randale Anderson and 23-year-old Sir Demarco Bledsoe were arrested at a Langston University dorm around 8:30 a.m. Saturday on robbery and kidnapping complaints, however more charges are likely, Brown said.
The victim, James Sykes, 23, told authorities he picked up two men he did not know at the University of Central Oklahoma campus in Edmond around 9 p.m. Friday, Brown said.
The suspects then pulled out a gun and beat the victim for 30 minutes as they were driving on Interstate 35, Brown said. Sykes was also shot once in the leg.
The car ended up swerving off the road and the two men fled the scene leaving Sykes in the car near Seward, Okla., Brown said.
Brown said a passerby noticed the victim badly beaten inside the car and called 911 around 10 p.m. Friday. Sykes was flown to OU Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Authorities were able to track Anderson and Bledsoe to Anderson's dorm apartment on the Langston University campus where evidence of the crime was found, Brown said.
Both suspects are currently in the Logan County jail.
