STROUD, Okla. - A pavement failure on the Turner Turnpike is being attributed to hot weather and construction.
Jack Damrill, spokesman for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, says the eastbound lanes experienced a pavement failure within a construction zone.
The eastbound lanes between Chandler and Stroud are closing Monday evening for repairs.
Damrill says the hot weather and additional loads of traffic because the section of road is already down to one lane in the construction area are the cause of the pavement failure.
The closure is expected to last from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. All eastbound traffic must exit at Chandler and reenter the turnpike at Stroud.
Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes.
