TULSA - Tulsa's Oktoberfest is one of the top 10 in the United States.
It's known for beer, German food, and the chicken dance -- one that Channel 2 helped start.
Volunteer Rob Mitchell said, in 1981, Channel 2 donated the chicken costume.
A band from Germany came to play at the festival and taught everyone the dance. The chicken costume gave it the name.
Mitchell, a volunteer here the last 32 years has only missed the first two years, in 1979 and 1980, and he brings along a helper.
His service and therapy dog Sheba is a golden Labrador. She has attended Oktoberfest the last 12 years.
"Sheba loves it. She loves it. She gets the attention of being petted. The crowd doesn't bother her," said Mitchell.
Andrew Hoover and his wife drove up from Baton Rouge to continue a tradition Andrew's dad started.
"As long as Oktoberfest is here, I'll be here" said Hoover.
Rob says it's such a family event, his children and grandchildren volunteer.
