Tulsa Zoo announces hatchings of nine Aldabra Tortoises, now on display in new exhibit

TULSA - The Tulsa Zoo is unveiling its newest residents.

Nine Aldabra Tortoises started cutting through their shells Feb. 9.

They now each weigh about as much as a 9-volt battery.

The Tulsa Zoo is also home to three adult male and two adult female Aldabra Tortoises.

The adult male tortoises weigh nearly 400 pounds while the adult female tortoises weigh around 175 pounds.  Their ages range from 31 to more than 100 years old.

Guests can watch the new hatchlings grow in their new exhibit.
