TULSA - For one family in Green Country, riding the Skyride at the Tulsa State Fair means more than just enjoying the ride.

Two weeks ago, Steve Shelton died when the service basket he was riding in failed while he worked on the ride.

On Thursday his wife and two young children returned to ride the attraction Steve loved the most.

Katie Shelton admits it wasn't easy walking with her two young children to the ride where she met her husband 11 years earlier.

It's "your dad's skyride," Katie explains to her daughter Hannah.

In a special 50th anniversary car chosen just for Katie, she, Hannah and 6-day-old Hudson climbed aboard to send a message to everyone coming to the fair.

"Safety was his number one thing," Katie says of her late husband. "And that's why we're getting on it because we want everyone to know that it is safe."

Steve Shelton was a teenager when he first started working on rides at Bell's Amusement Park.
