Tulsa Salvation Army needing turkeys, pre-baked pies for Thanksgiving Dinner

TULSA - The organization sent out the plea Friday, and are seeking 80 frozen turkeys and 80 pre-baked pies before Monday.

The food will help fill holiday tables Nov. 22 for the Salvation Army's Annual Thanksgiving Dinner.

"Looking into an empty freezer right now is a scary thing and we understand that the economy is challenging," said Maj. James Taylor with the Metro Tulsa Area Command, "but we are hopeful that the generosity and compassion of our community will see us through the season."

Food donations can be made at the Center of Hope, located at 102 North Denver, 24 hours a day. For larger donations, call 587-7801 Monday.

People can also text JOY TURKEY to 85944 to make a one-time $10 donation towards the purchase of turkeys. Mobile users should reply "Yes" to complete the donation, which will be billed to their phone bill.
