Police seek suspect in attempted sexual assault; woman says she was attacked at east Tulsa church

TULSA, Okla. - A Tulsa woman is thanking a higher being today that nothing worse happened to her during an attack.

Tulsa Police Department says a man walked into Adventist Fellowship in east Tulsa and asked the victim to speak with the pastor. When the victim turned around, he attacked her from behind. 

The suspect dragged the victim into another room and attempted to sexually assault her.

It happened around 9:45 a.m. April 1. The church sits in a rural area near 21st and South 145th East Ave. 

Pastor Stephen Carlile tells 2NEWS the victim is doing OK. 

"I talked to her a couple of times today and she's in good spirits," he said. "Very thankful God protected her."

The man identified through surveillance video inside the church is believed to be white, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 in height and dark brown hair. He was described as muscular, last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.
