TULSA - Tulsa police have identified the victim of a homicide at a Tulsa apartment complex.
Homicide detectives were called to Orchard Park Apartments near 64th and Peoria around 10 a.m. after a woman’s body was found, according to police dispatchers, though detectives on the scene did not release a gender nor did they release the victim's name or age.
Detectives say it is still too early to tell how the woman died but say blood stain patterns and trauma turned the death into a murder investigation.
The victim was identified as Helen Elizabeth Johnson, 56.
This is the city of Tulsa's eighth homicide of 2014.
Investigators say the body could have been there days or even weeks and is in an advanced stage of decomposition.
The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Police do not have a suspect but are interviewing neighbors and those close to the victim as they investigate.
Investigators are looking to the public, hoping someone can tell them when and where Johnson was last seen.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-2677 or the Homicide Tip Line at 918-798-2677.
