Tulsa police arrest mother for growing marijuana in child's closet

TULSA - A Tulsa woman booked for child endangerment early Friday morning is accused of growing marijuana in her child's closet.

Officers were called to the home of Veronica Thompson around 9:30 p.m. Thursday on a noise and weapons complaint.

Neighbors of the 21-year-old mother told police Thompson's boyfriend and two other men kicked the door and pointed a handgun at the residents, threatening to shoot. The men were reportedly angry after being told to turn their music down.

Police immediately spotted a marijuana plant and grow lamp nestled inside a closet alongside children's toys and clothes, according to Thompson's booking report.

Thompson now faces two counts of child endangerment and another for cultivation of marijuana in the presence of a minor, and will appear in court Feb. 22. Thompson's boyfriend was not arrested.

Both of the children in the home were taken into protective custody.
