TULSA - School doors will open for the 2013-14 academic year in mid-August for many districts in northeast Oklahoma and the Tulsa Health Department is reminding parents about immunizations.

Tulsa Public Schools open August 22 on the traditional calendar and August 8 for the continuous learning students.

Children entering kindergarten or 7th grade need to visit a clinic to update their vaccinations.

According to THD, most children entering kindergarten are required to receive a second dose of MMR (measles, mumps and rubella vaccine), a fourth dose of polio vaccine, and a fifth does of DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccines).

Students entering the 7th grade must receive a Tdap booster, which protects against tetanus, diptheria and pertussis (whooping cough).
