TULSA - Thousands of people are expected to come out to the 2012 Tulsa State Fair, which opens Thursday.
Fair staff and hundreds of vendors have been gearing up for the big day for weeks and months.
Dustin Beener's family has been feeding fair fans nationwide for 99 years. His staff was busy Sunday unpacking boxes and getting supplies ready for the health inspection.
"We're getting everything organized, cleaned-up and inspected make sure everything works. And get ready to put the food on the grill," he said. "We have caramel apples, turkey legs, polish sausage hamburger baskets and in all Italian grinders is probably my favorite."
In just a week, Ted Tucker's staff has to put together 12 buildings. The work is non-stop for them during the next few days.
"This is Sunday afternoon and there's a lot of people working hard today," he said. "And later on after church there will be a lot more people, and set up their booths today."
Sarah Thompson with the fair says families will not be disappointed this year. About one million people are expected to attend the fair during the 11 days it will be open.
