TSAS Board of Trustees to meet Tuesday

TULSA - The Board of Trustees for the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences will meet for the first time Tuesday since a fire destroyed their building last week.

The eight board members are expected to terminate the lease the school has with the Tulsa Public School district for the old Barnard Elementary School building, which was destroyed Wednesday, Sept. 5 when flames swept through the building, destroying everything.

The board also plans on approving the new one-year lease for the old Sequoyah Elementary School, which TSAS now calls home.

Eric Doss, director of TSAS, tells 2NEWS that a lot of work still lies ahead.  Specifically, he says that he and the board must now work with TPS to find a home beyond this school year.

"We're very comfortable that TPS is going to continue to help us out," Doss said. "Whether we continue to use a TPS building or go somewhere else, that remains to be seen, but we know that we have partners there that are going to keep us safe no matter what."

TSAS has also scheduled a meeting for parents to discuss the future of the school.

That meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Tulsa's Allen Chapman Activity Center.
