TULSA - Tulsa Public Schools officials are holding a public forum to see how residents near the old Barnard School property will like their new neighbors.
The property on 17th Street and Lewis Avenue has been vacant for just over a year after fire destroyed the school building.
TPS has received five bids, some of them involving rezoning the property.
Residents already said they did not like a nursing home proposal.
One idea is gathering a lot of support. A contractor is looking to turn the lot into new homes.
"There's one bid, there's one idea they're most in favor of. It's put forth by Lindsay Development, it's for 18 single residential units," Chris Payne with Tulsa Public Schools said.
A meeting is to be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Education Service Center on New Haven Avenue for developers to show their vision to residents.
Lindsay Developments is offering $1.5 million for the property.
If neighbors approve, the TPS board could vote to accept the bid and move the sale forward.
