TPD: Man accused of first degree rape of woman seeking to borrow phone to call for a ride

TULSA – Authorities arrested a man accused of raping a woman seeking to borrow a telephone to make a call for a a ride.

The victim told a City of Tulsa Security officer that she was at the intersection of East Pine Street and South Peoria Avenue when she encountered James Johnson.

Official documents report that while Johnson told the victim she could follow him to his house to use his phone but while walking down the sidewalk he grabbed her and pulled her into a dark grassy area. The victim then reported that Johnson shoved her to the ground and threatened to kill her before raping her.

The victim told authorities that Johnson claimed he had a knife and that he knew how to use it “due to his military experience.”

A security officer arrived and eventually charges were filed against Johnson for first degree rape.
