Thunder win sets off merchandise mania in Tulsa

TULSA - By clinching the NBA western conference championship, the Oklahoma City Thunder not only earned a spot in the NBA finals, the team also set off a merchandise mania across Tulsa.

In fact, even before the final buzzer sounded against San Antonio, some fans were already scrambling to show their Thunder pride.

PGI Enterprise's printing machines kept busy last night printing 7,000 official NBA western conference championship shirts.

Meanwhile across town, fans lined up outside sporting good stores to get their hands on even more Thunder gear.

On Thursday more street vendors began sprouting up across Tulsa.

2News spoke with one of the vendors at 91st and Sheridan.

Rockin' Rod as he likes to be called, has been in town selling Thunder merchandise for the last two weeks.

"We've got stickers for $5. We've got some of the decals that are $8. We've got a Rumble rally rag. It's the only thing I have that has their mascot on it. Those are pretty cool," said Rockin' Rod.

His number one selling items have been Thunder car flags.

Rockin' Rod said he has run out of some items but will get a new batch of Thunder gear in the next couple of days.

He plans on sticking around for a while.

"As long as they're playing, we're going to be here," he said.
