Local superintendents say budget cuts for next school year are inevitable with the state's budget shortfall.
While they're attempting to not impact students' education in the classroom, it appears many classes will get bigger with fewer teachers.
Tulsa Public Schools, Broken Arrow Public Schools, Sapulpa Public Schools and Sand Springs Public Schools are looking at cutting teaching positions by not filling up future vacancies resulting from retirement or resignations.
All districts are looking at multi-million dollar budget cuts. Superintendents say most of the money now goes to employee salaries, including staff and teachers, which is an area many of them are looking at reducing.
TPS has a $13.5 million budget shortfall. BAPS will lose about $7 million dollars next year. SSPS is looking at $1.6 million in cuts, and SPS has a shortfall of about $2 million.
