A family of five loses everything in a fire, but credits a family pet for saving a teenager's life Monday night.
CATOOSA, Okla. - A family of five lost everything in a fire but credits a family pet for saving a teenager's life Monday night.
Firefighters fought the flames near Catoosa for about 45 minutes but could not save the home.
Anthony England, 15, says he was home alone playing video games in his room when the fire started. He says his dog, a 2-year-old lab mix named Rampage, saved his life.
"My dog nudges me on the arm. I see smoke hovering on the ceiling. My instant reaction was to crawl on my hands and knees, and crawl to the door and get out," Anthony said.
Anthony made it out of the home safely, but Rampage and three other dogs died in the fire, family members say.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire. The home is a total loss.
A benefit to raise money for the family will be held Feb. 16, at the Bamboo Lounge in north Tulsa.
