Tahlequah woman, Amanda Ballard, charged with rape after confessing to relationship with teen boy

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - A Tahlequah woman is facing a host of charges after authorities say she confessed to a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy.

Amanda Ballard, 27, was arrested May 4 on two felony complaints of second-degree rape and felony indecent proposals to a child under 16.

Charges were officially filed May 27 in Cherokee County.

According to court documents, Ballard confessed to having sexual contact with the teen at least 20 times between February and April 2014.

"According to the victim and the suspect, there was no force involved in this relationship. But due to the victim's age, it's a second degree rape charge." Jason Chennault, Cherokee Co. Undersheriff said.

Ballard faces a combined 50 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

Meanwhile, Ballard has pleaded not guilty and given a bond of $75,000.
