Crews spent Wednesday afternoon tearing down north Tulsa's Springdale Park and Recreation Center.
The city's park director says the demolition was planned for a while, and today's weather and demolition crew availability allowed for work to be done.
The park stands in Tulsa City Councilor Jack Henderson's district.
He says he hoped to save the park and was still working with the city council to save it
“They're working with me still trying to see what we can do, and out of the blue this building is being torn down even as we still were looking at trying to figure out something else," Henderson said.
Henderson had been working for the last four years to save the park and recreation center.
Many locals say the park was a big part of the community.
