SKIATOOK, Okla. - Several residents in Skiatook got a rude awakening after nearly seven inches of rain caused severe flooding inside and outside their homes.
Those living near North Tall Chief Street said they had experienced some flooding in the past, but nothing like what they received overnight. One homeowner said he asked his insurance agent for flood insurance, because the house is next to a creek. But he was told he did not need flood insurance.
About a mile away on West Rogers Boulevard at the Top Rail Apartments, two families were forced out of their home after their ceiling collapsed due to the rain. The families are okay and receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
