SAPULPA, Okla. - A Sapulpa police chase culminated in two officer injuries and an arrest Wednesday afternoon.
Police say they attempted to pull over a man for a traffic stop around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, but the suspect sped up.
The man led officers through a residential area, Liberty Elementary school zone, locked gates and a gravel road, reaching speeds of 90 mph.
The suspect then turned around, hit one officer getting out his patrol car and another inside his vehicle head-on, authorities say.
One officer received head injuries; the other injuries to his neck. Both were transported to hospitals.
Police say they then quickly apprehended the suspect, who had taken off on foot, with arrest warrants in his possession.
Sapulpa Police Maj. Jeff Gilliland said the pursuit ended near the 1300 block of East Cobb Avenue and North Moccasin Place.
Authorities say the man was driving a stolen white Ford pick-up truck out of Tulsa.
Liberty Elementary exercised a school lockdown until the suspect was taken into custody. Charges have not yet been filed.
