SAPULPA, Okla. - Officials with the Sapulpa Police Department say the phones are back in service after the department experienced an outage Tuesday afternoon.
Though the city's police phone systems were down, Sapulpa Deputy Chief of Police Mike Haefner said the 911 system remained active. Sapulpa residents were instructed to call 911 to contact the department while the outage occurred.
Haefner said the department uses Cox Communications.
The company's system, Cox Business Voice Manager, has been experiencing outages Tuesday with "a portion of our business customers" since around 10 a.m., said Christine Martin, Cox director of communication.
The number of customers experiencing problems wasn't available due to the scattered locations of affected services.
Martin says technical support and engineers are working on the problem and will have the service restored as soon as possible.
