Sand Springs man Clayton Lambert jailed for arson, burglary

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. - A Sand Springs man was arrested Thursday for arson and burglary.

Clayton Lambert was taken into custody after two traffic stops and a follow-up interview with police.

According to the arrest report, an officer responding to a copper theft call at a business stopped Lambert because the truck he was driving was seen leaving the area.  The officer witnessed various appliances in the back of Lambert's truck.

The business owner declined to press charges so Lambert was let go.

Later in the day, officers were dispatched to a burglary-house fire call at a vacant house. A witness told police she saw a man loading appliances into a truck when the fire began.

Lambert was stopped a second time by police and officers noticed  his eyebrows were singed.

The investigation continued when police contacted a scrap metal shop and found Lambert had sold the appliances, which were already destroyed.

A follow-up interview with Lambert ended with his confession that he took the appliances, claiming the house had been abandoned for some time.

The fire marshal was brought in and Lambert said the fire began when he disconnected the gas line.

Lambert was arrested for second-degree burglary and third-degree arson. He was booked into the Tulsa County jail on $7,500 bond.
