SAND SPRINGS, Okla. - A Sand Springs man arrested Monday faces charges of kidnapping, lewd molestation and obstructing a police officer, according to a police report.
Christopher Hamilton, 24, was booked into the Tulsa County jail after Sand Springs Police responded to a missing persons complaint near North Wilson Avenue and West 11th Street.
The child's mother realized that her daughter was not in the house and began looking for her. She told police that she learned from her juvenile son that the child had been playing in the neighborhood. The mother then learned that the child may have been at Hamilton's apartment, according to the police report.
After failing to contact Hamilton at his residence, she contacted police.
Hamilton repeatedly told officers there was nothing in the apartment. The suspect allowed police to enter, still maintaining that the child was not at the residence.
Records state that Hamilton told police "I ain't no chomo" multiple times. Chomo is slang for child molester.
Officers found the child in a back bedroom, who had been hiding in a closet. Hamilton said that he was trying to help the child and had not done anything, according to records.
According to the police report, the child told the mother that Hamilton didn't do anything and not to hurt him. The girl also stated that Hamilton told her to hide in the closet and be quiet.
The child was taken to Hillcrest Medical Center to undergo a rape and sexual assault exam. The mother says she was told by the nurse after the examination that the child had made statements indicating Hamilton had sexually assaulted her, according to records.
The 13-year-old's mother claims the child has a diminished mental capacity and functions at the mental age of a 5-to 6-year-old person.
Court records show that Hamilton was previously convicted for driving without a license and transporting an open container in 2011.
Hamilton is being held on $75,500 bond.
