The City of Sand Springs has announced its newest addition to RiverWest – a new prototype 70-room Holiday Inn Express.
Last July, the Sand Springs City Council approved a conceptual site plan for the development as well as a contract with Anish Hotels Group (AHG) for a four-story hotel.
According to AHG, the future hotel is set to be the first of its kind to be built anywhere.
AHG owns several Tulsa properties, including a new hotel currently under construction in downtown Tulsa.
The conceptual plan also includes an additional 15 acres retail, restaurants and mixed-use development.
“Both the city council and administration are excited about how the RiverWest project is moving forward and about the Holiday Inn Express hotel that Andy Patel’s AHG is building in Sand Springs,” Mike Burdge, Mayor of Sand Springs said.
In a release Monday, the city said it will break ground soon on the Holiday Inn Express.
The hotel will be latest addition in the RiverWest development, a 30-acre site that includes CVS Pharmacy, a relocated O’Reilly Auto Parts and an IHOP restaurant.
The RiverWest Development land was purchased in 2005 with Vision 2025 funding for $14.5 million.
