After a man was killed in a car accident over the weekend, residents in Sand Springs say the road they live on has turned into a deathtrap.

Residents that use the road say 177th West Avenue has too much loose gravel covering it.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says over the weekend, a man was speeding and hit a tree after he lost control of his car.

Though the gravel is not listed as the cause of the crash, residents say they feel their cars sliding on the rocks every day.

With new development causing even more traffic in the area, residents say they want something to be done.

"You couldn't even ride a bicycle on this if you had to," said Richard Harris, who lives near the road. "The wheels would go up from under you on a motorcycle, 4 wheeler. We're lucky only one tragedy has happened so far."

Tulsa County says they'll be picking up all the gravel within the next few weeks and the road will then be re-paved.
