MAYES COUNTY, Okla. - A high-profile Green Country man known as "Safari Joe" was acquitted of two rape and molestation charges Friday but will soon have to face another jury on a separate rape count.
A Mayes County jury returned with the verdict Friday afternoon, and found Joe Estes not guilty of lewd molestation and rape by instrumentation in the accused sexual abuse of two minors.
The third charge, rape by instrumentation, involves a separate alleged New Year's Eve incident with a woman over 18. Court proceedings for that charge will begin Sept. 9.
