Robert Bates, the ex-Tulsa County reserve deputy, has been released from prison

SAYRE, Okla. - Robert Bates, the ex-Tulsa County reserve deputy convicted for second-degree manslaughter, has been released from prison.

The 76-year-old was serving a four-year sentence at North Folk Correctional Center in Sayre. He was convicted in May 2016 in the shooting death of Eric Harris.

Bates was released around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday.
