TULSA – A man is in custody after being accused of robbing a couple at gunpoint in east Tulsa Thursday morning.

Tulsa police say around 6 a.m. a woman was walking her dog when a man approached her and held her at gunpoint, demanding money. Because the woman did not have money with her, the suspect followed her to her home and held her and her husband at gunpoint near East 21st and Memorial Drive while he took their wallets, laptop and keys to their Jeep.

The suspect, 28-year-old Arthur Taylor, then attempted another armed robbery near East 11th and South Garnett where he allegedly put a gun to the victim’s head, say police.

Police officers were able to locate the reported stolen Jeep near 11th and Garnett at the Brookshire Motel where a short chase ensued. Eventually the chase ended when the suspect parked the Jeep at a church nearby and attempted to flee from police.

The suspect, Taylor, dropped the .40 caliber gun he was holding and jumped a fence before being apprehended and taken in for questioning, say police.

Tulsa police tell 2 Works for You that he is facing charges of three counts of robbery with a dangerous firearm, one eluding officers and one of operation of an unsafe vehicle. TPD says Taylor is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“It’s going to be a laundry list today because we’ve got at least three counts of armed robbery, we’ve got kidnapping — holding two people against their will at gunpoint inside their house — the traffic violations based on the pursuit,” said Cpl. Brian Collum.

Police are looking into whether Taylor could be connected to other recent robberies.

One of the Jeep’s owners said “Tulsa Police Department performed exceptional, and we appreciate what they do."
