TULSA - A new report on the Department of Veterans Affairs reveals a backlog in benefits claims.
For hundreds of thousands of veterans, getting their claims for benefits approved and processed has become a waiting game.
According to the Center for Investigative Reporting website, nearly 900,000 pension and compensation claims are pending nationwide and the average wait time for a decision is 273 days.
In Oklahoma, 15,470 veterans are waiting for answers. The wait time is 236 days on average. More than 10,000 veterans are waiting 125 or more days, and appealed claims are taking an average of 1,057 days.
