Reasor's Foods to acquire 3 Tulsa Food Pyramid locations; 2 other Tulsa Food Pyramid stores to close

TULSA - Reasor's Foods is purchasing three of Tulsa's Food Pyramid grocery stores.

The owner of the stores, RPCS, Inc., announced Wednesday Reasor's will acquire Food Pyramid at 39th and Peoria in September and in October they will take over the stores at 71st and Garnett and 51st and Harvard.

Two stores -- near 81st and Harvard and 51st and Memorial -- will close Sept. 3.

RPCS originally purchased the stores from Albertson's in July 2007, changing the name to Food Pyramid.

In a release, RPCS, which will continue to operate six other grocery stores in Oklahoma, said the move doesn't change the company's commitment to the state.

"We did not make the decision to exit the Tulsa market lightly," RPCS president and CEO Erick Taylor said Wednesday. "We know the impact will be felt by our shoppers and dedicated associates who have so loyally supported us these past six years."

Taylor also announced the company's intentions to offer jobs to many of their Tulsa employees at remaining Oklahoma stores and plans to work with Reasor's to aid in the chain's hiring process.
