TULSA - Tulsa-based QuikTrip plans to build an 80,000-square-foot addition to its existing 160,000-square-foot corporate headquarters.
A spokesperson for the convenience chain says the current complex, built in 2002, has reached its capacity.
The new addition will be four stories and will house additional employees.
The new building will also make room for nearly 250 new corporate employees over the course of several years, adding to its current 500 workers at the QuikTrip headquarters.
"We're going to need additional staffing to support the stores. That's what the new building represents ... We're not really that big on employee count at the corporate office," QuikTrip Corporation spokesman Mike Thornbrugh said.
The Tulsa Regional Chamber estimates the additional jobs will have a $281 million annual impact to the local economy. Local economist also says the money generated from the new jobs will have a multiplier effect by creating an additional 100 new jobs in the Tulsa Region.
QuikTrip says it plans to open the new addition by the summer of 2015.
