Polls across Oklahoma open at 7 a.m. for a primary election and in Tulsa County, 262 precincts will be operating.

With voters having to consider city, county, state and federal races, the election board has prepared more than 50 different ballots, according to Tulsa County Election Board Secretary Patty Bryant.

Despite the number of races in consideration Tuesday, Bryant says turnout figures to be low, as it typically is for an election in which a president isn't elected.

The election board estimates a turnout of 50,000 registered voters, which is about 17 percent of the electorate.

"They forget about these races that are so important, right here, that determine how much your taxes are going to be. You know, how much your filing fees are going to be when you file documents at the courthouse. You know those kind of things," she said.

Voters are reminded that municipal races, like for mayor and city council, are non-partisan.

Also, it's possible winners could be declared in a municipal election Tuesday.

"If one of the candidates receives 50 percent plus one, they will be declared the winner," Bryant said.

If not, the two candidates who together makeup more than 50 percent of the vote will face off in a November general election.

If it takes more than two candidates to push the 50 percent mark, a runoff will be held in August.

Voters are also reminded Tuesday that they must vote at their precinct, not the election board.

You will also need identification to vote, which can be issued by the U.S. Government, State of Oklahoma or a federally recognized tribal government.

It must have your picture and your name as it appears on your precinct registry. A county election board voter identification card, which doesn't include an photograph, is also accepted.

Polls are open until 7 p.m.

The first available results will be from absentee ballots sent to the election board office. Prior to Tuesday, the election board tallied 2,546 absentee ballots, according to Bryant.
