TULSA -- NAACP officials planned an event in North Tulsa Sunday night to address the shooting death of Terence Crutcher.

NAACP National President Cornell Brooks was supposed to attend, but 2 Works For You is told his flight was delayed in Charlotte where he spoke about another deadly shooting.

Boris Nichols said he attended the Speaking Justice, Seeking Truth event to hear what the NAACP said needs to be done to prevent officer involved shootings in Tulsa.

"I'm hoping the community and everyone just to come together more and police officers and everyone," said Nichols.

NAACP Oklahoma President Anthony Douglas said after seeing the video of Tulsa Police Officer Betty Shelby shooting and killing Terence Crutcher, changes need to be made within the Tulsa Police Department.

"I'm going to be calling on the Department Of Justice. I'm going to be calling the city police chief and the governor and the mayor of this town. I believe all the officers need to be removed. I want them all removed," said Douglas.

He said the community needs to think beyond rallies and marches as a way to get justice.

"We just can't rally and march. As we rally and march then what we do? We must demand our right on the ballot box and as a jury. We must be on the jury stand," said Douglas.

Nichols said although Crutcher's death has been a tragic time for Tulsa, he's hoping it will open eyes people in the community.

"Just maybe more possibly have some more community meetings and maybe come together, praying more about situations and circumstances like they have been doing in this organization, it's an unfortunate situation like it was, but it seemed like it's bringing the communities closer together," said Nichols.
