TULSA - Tulsa police say they sprayed a man with pepper spray after he assaulted officers around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
Officers were called to a bar near 35th Street and Sheridan Road and say Brandon Antwain Diangelo Jenkins, 27, was completely out of control and refusing to leave the bar. Jenkins was taken into custody after he made verbal threats to the responding officer, police say.
Officers say Jenkins began thrashing around in the patrol car while en route to the jail, almost causing the officer to wreck his car.
The officer said he was forced to stop on the Broken Arrow Expressway and have another officer help try to get Jenkins under control. Jenkins then began kicking at the police, striking one of the officers in the chest at least twice before they sprayed Jenkins with pepper spray, according to jail records.
Jenkins was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, threatening a violent act, interfering with a police officer, public intoxication and public nuisance.
