Police make unusual discovery at end of chase

TULSA - Two men are in jail after leading Tulsa police on a high-speed chase through the city after midnight Thursday.

The driver, 32-year-old Jeremy Holmes, sped away when an officer tried to pull him over near 21st and South 129th East Avenue.

Speeds reached 85 miles per hour until police threw spike strips on the road.  The spikes shredded three of the tires on the suspects' car.

The pursuit ended near 41st and North Frankfort Avenue.

Tulsa Police Capt. Wendall Franklin told 2NEWS officers found drug paraphernalia in the car and something unusual.

"We found several cellphones wrapped in two layers, the inner layer wrapped in wrapping and then there is tobacco wrapped inside another container," said Franklin.  "We're not sure what's going on there".

Holmes was arrested for eluding police.  He and his passenger, 22-year-old Matthew Love, were also booked for possession of drug paraphernalia and outstanding warrants.
