Parents, teachers take precautions to keep students safe as temperatures reach 90 degrees

TULSA, Okla. - Jenks Public School staff started prepping students for hot days in early April.

Jenks Southeast Elementary School Nurse Beverly Burk says it's about prepping students and parents.

"Apply sunscreen in the morning before they come to school so that they are prepared," Burk says.  "Send them with a water bottle so that they have hydration and they can refill throughout the day."

Students in her school get breaks from the heat to cool off. This prevents them from getting headaches and stomachaches.
