Police address public's fears regarding Sunday attack in Owasso

OWASSO, Okla. - Owasso police have released little information regarding an attack that occurred over the holiday weekend, but they do want to put the public's fears to rest.

Police say the assault with a deadly weapon that occurred Sunday at Preston Lakes Apartments near 145th East Avenue and 86th Street North was not a random act of violence.

In a statement emailed from Owasso police spokesman Sgt. Nick Boatman, "Police are responding to public fears that this was a random act of violence perpetrated within the community."

Since the investigation began, detectives have determined the victim and suspect in the case were acquainted, according to the statement.

On Sunday, a neighbor told 2NEWS that a man's throat was cut and he was stabbed around 7 a.m., though Owasso police would not confirm that information.

The man was taken to a local hospital. His condition is not known.

The investigation is ongoing. Police say no further information is being released at this time.

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to call the Owasso Police tip line at 918-272-COPS (2677).
