Owasso police: Store robbery suspect turns himself over to police, in custody

OWASSO, Okla. - The suspect in a larceny-turned-strong-arm robbery of an Owasso convenience store earlier this month has turned himself over to police.

According to police, 19-year-old Francisco Birruetta of Tulsa willingly came to the Owasso Police Department Tuesday morning after seeing his picture from video surveillance displayed on television and in area media outlets.

On Monday, police released the image in hopes to identify a man who at around 8:30 p.m. Jan. 12 reportedly attacked the clerk of a Kum & Go on the 300 block of E. 2nd Avenue after the clerk tried to stop him from leaving the store with a case of beer.

Birruetta allegedly beat the clerk and then left with the beer – leaving the clerk with minor injuries.

After a brief interview with Birruetta and obtaining a confession from him, police took Birruetta into custody for robbery.

His is being held on a $50,000 surety bond.
