OWASSO, Okla. - An Owasso man is behind bars on a complaint of making a lewd proposal to a minor, accused of inappropriately touching a family member.
Tyler Cowart, 27, was arrested Saturday night and booked into the Tulsa County Jail on $25,000 bond.
According to the police report, Cowart picked the teenage victim up from her Bartlesville home and took her shopping in Tulsa, where the victim says Cowart wanted her to try on swimsuits but she refused.
The victim told officers Cowart took her to his apartment in Owasso where they watched a movie. She said Cowart laid her down on the couch, felt her breast and began moving his hand underneath her shirt.
According to the report, the victim said she needed to use the bathroom and once there she called her mother.
The teen exited the bathroom, police say, and told Cowart she needed to leave because she had to babysit.
After Cowart drove the girl home, she explained the incident to her mother who told the victim to text Cowart.
According to the report, the victim sent a text message, saying "I was very uncomfortable with you today and felt some of the things done were inappropriate and cannot happen again."
Cowart responded with a number of text messages officers later photographed, including apologies and a request for the victim to call him.
"Call me soon, I understand if you don't want to. Because I messed up, and misunderstood you, and what happens next is pretty important," read one message, according to the police report.
Officers contacted Cowart by telephone and he later arrived at the police department, where they say he said he knew why he was there and asked for a lawyer.
Cowart was then placed under arrest and transported to the Tulsa County Jail.
