Former Owasso City Manager Rodney Ray pleads not guilty to bogus check, false police report

OWASSO, Okla. - Owasso's former city manager was in court Wednesday, facing charges that may have cost him his job.

Rodney Ray resigned from the position last month after he was suspended, accused of writing a bogus check and filing a false police report in 2010.

Ray received $185,073 as a result of his resignation agreement with the council.

On Wednesday, Ray made his first appearance at the Tulsa County Courthouse, pleading not guilty to the misdemeanor charges.

The check he's accused of writing was to Clear-Tone Hearing Aid Laboratories for more than $3,000 . According to court documents, Ray then filed a false police report, indicating he didn't write the check.

Ray's next court appearance is the preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 23.
