ONEOK FreedomFest highlights Tulsa's July 4th

TULSA - Thousands of people are expected to attend Tulsa's annual July 4th celebration Wednesday.

ONEOK FreedomFest will be happening all day along the Arkansas River.

The highlight is the fireworks display, which is set to begin at 9:40 p.m. and should last about 20 minutes.

There will be plenty for family friendly activities leading up to the big finale.

Several entertainment areas will be set up near 31st and Riverside, Veterans Park and the River West Festival Park.

The Blue Rose Cafe will also be open until 3 p.m. before it closes for a private party.

"Bring your family and gather up the kids," said Tonja Pitzer with the River Parks Authority. "There are inflatables and rock climbing. We've also got hot air balloons and vendors for food and beverage. It's just a great time."

There are some traffic advisories you should also know about if you head to the celebration.

The 21st Street bridge will close at 11 a.m. so crews can begin setting up the fireworks.

Riverside Drive will close at 5 p.m. to accommodate the large pedestrian crowd.

Organizers also want you to build in extra time if you come from the south because of the ongoing roadwork near 51st and Riverside.
