TULSA - Emergency crews freed a person from a truck Thursday that flipped while exiting I-44 and landed in the side of an east Tulsa motel.
Officials on the scene said a Ford F-150 left the interstate, hit a sign and flipped, crashing into Howard Johnson Inn near 11th and Garnett.
The vehicle damaged several columns of the motel and eight rooms were affected.
The driver, a 23-year-old man from Stroud, told state troopers he fell asleep at the wheel. He was transported in stable condition to a local hospital after Tulsa firefighters employed Jaws of Life to pull him out.
Troopers said the man was driving home from work.
