Oklahoma State Department of Health monitoring flu cases, reports 5 deaths so far this season

OKLAHOMA CITY - Five people have died in Oklahoma of flu-related illness as flu numbers are on the rise, according to the state health department

Since the start of the season, 242 people have been hospitalized with the flu and deaths are reported in Tulsa, Kay, LeFlore, Osage and Pittsburg counties.

With the flu widespread across the country, health officials are encouraging flu shots for anyone 6 months or older.

Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.
