Oklahoma Renaissance Festival set to open at the Castle of Muskogee May 4
Today was the last day of rehearsal at the Castle of Muskogee for the annual Oklahoma Renaissance Festival.
As the cast finalizes their dance steps, they are preparing for five weeks of shows taking visitors back to the 16th Century.
Just down the way, the king's body guards are performing for their queen, played by Lisa Marenghi.
The men are reenacting the guards protecting royalty in England.
Douager, queen of Scotland, has been here at Castleton 13 years.
"When you enter the gates of Castleton, you enter what many see as a fantasy land," Marenghi said.
Pirates Captain Flynn and Bucky are among those in this show. The duo is now going on a combined 10 years.
These actors have no problem playing off each other and say the entire cast is a big family. And they are now prepared to share their shows with your family.
There's a lot of things that won't make you forget, but it will take your mind off things," Duwayne Mills said. "There are things 'in the world' that you may have never experienced before."
The Oklahoma Renaissance Festival opens the first weekend in May. Shows are every weekend in May, including Memorial Day weekend and the first weekend in June.
