TULSA - Tulsa police have arrested a man suspected of carrying a gun on the University of Tulsa campus.
Dustin Barnes, 26, was taken into TPD custody around 3:30 p.m. for possession of a weapon on school property and stolen property.
According to a message sent to all students, faculty and staff Friday detailed the man's run-in with campus security around 2:30 p.m.
The message states a TU security officer deemed Barnes a "suspicious male" walking along Tucker Drive north of 8th Street.
When the officer made contact with the suspect, Barnes "pulled a gun from his waistband and attempted to throw it under the officer's patrol vehicle."
The gun turned out to be stolen from Rogers County, the message reads.
The university also made clear Barnes, of Tulsa, was not a student at TU and that "it is unknown whether he was planning any criminal activity on campus."
Barnes is set to appear in court Sept. 24 and is being held on $11,500 bond.
