FORT GIBSON, Okla. - A Green Country woman is facing charges of child endangerment after leaving three children unattended in a vehicle while she gambled at a casino.
Fort Gibson Police Chief Clint Vernon tells 2NEWS officers found two 8-year-olds and a 10-year-old Monday afternoon. They had been alone in the car for about 45 minutes while Sharonda Sheppard, 29, gambled at the Cherokee Casino.
Vernon said Sheppard told officers the children were only in the car for about 10 minutes while she searched for her husband inside the casino; however, surveillance video showed Sheppard playing on several slot machines.
Sheppard was arrested around 4:30 p.m.
Vernon said leaving children alone in a vehicle is dangerous because of possible carbon monoxide poisoning, choking and other hazards.
