Warner firefighter set for arraignment on arson charges

MUSKOGEE, Okla. - A Warner volunteer firefighter in court on Tuesday waived his right to a preliminary hearing for five counts of third degree arson.

19-year-old Tobey Hadley Jr. is accused of starting numerous fires last summer in rural areas in Muskogee and McIntosh counties.

Authorities arrested him in October following an investigation that began in July when firefighters became suspicious of fires appearing in remote areas around Warner and found they had been intentionally set. They also noticed Hadley and Hill were always first to the scene.

Officials said while it does not appear the men had set the fires with an intent to cause damage or physical harm, the fires were lit during a severe dry spell, placing fellow firefighters at risk.

Hadley is due back in court for his arraignment on Feb. 14.
