Three killed in Muskogee car crash identified as 2 elderly victims and grandson

MUSKOGEE, Okla. - Authorities have identified the three people killed in a violent car crash in Muskogee as 77-year-old Loretta Goodwin, 74-year-old Michael Billings and 21-year-old Jacob Roberts.

Muskogee police said Friday evening Billings car collided with Goodwin's, leading to the involvement of two other vehicles. Roberts, Goodwin's grandson, was riding with her.

Three others were also taken to the hospital, according to Muskogee Co. EMS spokeswoman, but are expected to be OK.

The wreck happened at 24th Street and West Okmulgee Avenue Friday afternoon. Four vehicles collided at the crossing, according to investigators.

"It sounded like thunder but you knew something, something had hit somewhere," said Julia Wisham, who was near the intersection at the time. "We looked out here and there was just cars that were mangled up."

Officers say the accident does not appear to be weather-related, but are still looking into how it might have occurred. Investigators also noted Friday evening Billings might have had a health issue which could have contributed to the accident.
